Conquering the deepest depths in style

With our top three diving watches………

A diving watch is a watch designed for underwater diving that features, as a minimum, a water resistance greater than 330 feet. The typical diver’s watch will have a water resistance of around 200 to 300 meters – 660 to 980 feet, though modern technology allows the creation of diving watches that can go much deeper.

The Rolex Sea-Dweller Deepsea D-blue edition has a water resistance level of 3,900 meters. Yes that’s nearly 13,000 feet! Consisting of three pressure absorbing elements, a sapphire crystal which is more than 10 percent slimmer thanks to the special case construction developed, a case-back made of grade 5 titanium and an inner ring made of Biodur-108 steel. The main timepiece feature is the helium escape valve, after a deep saturation dive professional divers heading for the surface before they return to open air must spend time in a decompression chamber, breathing a gas mixture containing helium. The tiny molecules of helium, infiltrate everywhere in the chamber which also penetrate the watch. During decompression, the helium is unable to escape from the waterproof case quickly enough, creating pressure that could force the crystal out of the watch case. The gas escape valve is fitted with a spring which opens when the difference in pressure between the inside and outside of the watch reaches 3 to 5 bars, thus allowing the helium to escape, protecting the watch.

The Breitling Avenger II Seawolf model has an exceptional performance and an exceptional look. High depth diving of 3,000 metres/10,000 feet, equipped with a unidirectional rotating bezel, a screw lock crown and a valve that serves in equalling out the pressure inside and outside the watch. This timepiece is automatic in movement guaranteeing maximum precision and reliability essential for any diver.

The Ploprof 1200 Omega in sedna gold – because ladies dive too right?! This beautifully shaped timepiece with a look that clearly mimics the dark colours of the ocean,  is reliable even at 4000 feet beneath water making it Omega’s most water resistant watch. With an original and sturdy bold appearance, this newer edition is fitted with a co-axial master chronometer calibre 8912, featuring an anti magnetic resistance, chronometric performance and precise precision. The unique looking case combine’s 18 carat sedna gold alongside grade 5 titanium for lightweight comfort. The indexes have Super-LumiNova for increased visibility and the polished titanium “sharkproof” mesh bracelet gives a sense of exploration and adventure.
